Paris Project
Philip and Rachel Moore long to present the Truth, Beauty, and Goodness of the Christian gospel in Paris.
Paris is known as the "City of Lights." For centuries, its architecture, culture, and creativity have enthralled residents and visitors alike. Philip shares,
"Enlightenment thinkers Voltaire, Rousseau, and Diderot were all based in Paris in the decades leading up to the French Revolution. From that time, ideas that have started particularly in the 5th district of Paris — precisely where we are planting a church — have influenced the history of the world. These ideas over time have more and more tended to exclude God and enthrone man at the centre. The Panthéon, a beautiful building in the heart of the 5th, was at the time of the Revolution intended to be a church building. Instead it became a shrine for philosophers —Voltaire and Rousseau are buried there. Human reason replaced the divine at the pinnacle of society."
This is why the Moores are planting a new church in Paris's 5th. The area remains Paris's center for higher education, with 80,000 students. Yet there is currently no church serving this district. Students, families, and young professionals move into the area seeking the high quality of life. Philip and Rachel are serving to start a new church that will present more than great ideas or higher living standards. This church will present the Truth, Beauty, and Goodness of the Christian gospel.
